More CreditCard Bait
I just got a CC app. for 0%apr on purchases & balance transfers w/no transfer fee; they've been after me for years to open a new one and they finally got my attention, they must be crazy-desparate. Is it Xmas yet?
I live on a 10acre farm 2hrs to the closest Metro area, I've no CC debt just flex college loan, fixed mort., wifes good income, 7yo & .5yo daughters, fixed personal loans and am newly self-employed starting my 1st farmfresh food business, no income yet. So this is kind of a poll I guess, what would you use it for? water, food, fuel, ammo/weapons, cash, PM's, learn spanish, other. I'll admit feeling short on food, fuel, cash, & PM's. |

Curious who you got that offer from if I might ask.

Re: More CreditCard Bait
I agree with hypervel. I fell to temptation just before summer. O% for a year. Put a few guns on it, etc. Nothing crazy or anything like that but it just hangs over you like a cloud. Tear it up and don't look back.

Re: More CreditCard Bait
Better than tearing it up...buy yourself a shredder and shred these things so no one can retrieve from your trash and steal your identity and/or cash. There have been exposes about crooks using well torn apps..scotch taping them back together..filling them out and receiving the CC. Hope this helps....

Ihs, Capital One; they're not in my wallet.
John, I make paper logs out of our junk mail with a hand crank roller, so all gets burned. Was thinking of opening it then waiting for an emergeny, our CR will still be high, or like TA said, time the train and max it just before it hits (that light at the end of the tunnel is probably just a pair of BN diesels). Which brings to thought, is it possible to max a card just before the bank carrying it goes tu and then maybe a j6p could get away with the debt being expunged? |

Re: More CreditCard Bait
GO with what TA says, only if you have serious financial responsibility. It would be great in an emergency, but if you are tempted AT ALL to use other wise, burn/tear it up. THey are more trouble than they are worth.

Re: More CreditCard Bait
Get a box. Tape the Postage Guaranteed return envelope to the box. Put a brick or two in the box, pack them well. Tape up the box, take it to the post office, and mail back to the company. The CC company will pay ~$20 or so for postage.
heh heh. |
Re: More CreditCard Bait
IF you have the financial discipline to use it responsibly then free debt is free money.
Decide exactly what you want to put on it before getting the card, then use it only for what you planned on using it for. And, most importantly, once you have an amount you plan to charge, make up a repayment schedule to get it paid off before the 0% is up and STICK TO IT. Also have to plan for emergencies, aka job loss, medical expenses, etc. Could you still pay down the balance if something goes wrong? It may be more trouble than it is worth, but you may also be able to scoop up a few oz's of the shiny stuff before we crack $1000. Debt is a tool, like a chainsaw: you can cut some firewood with it, or saw off a leg, it all depends on how you use it. |
